Data, October 7, 2023 - December 15, 2024 – The Gaza Strip

Palestinians killed

‣ 45,097 Palestinians killed (including correctly identified as of October 7, 2024 –

40,717).

◦ Note, the number of killed persons brought to hospitals and registered is higher – about 2% of the Palestinian population were killed;



‣ Over 11,000 missing persons;

‣ Among the persons killed:

◦ 4,000 in the Northern Strip since the beginning of October, 2024;

◦ 17,712 children (12,799 school children);

◦ 849 babies under one-year-old;

◦ 12,130 women;

◦ 359 aid workers;

◦ 1,057 members of medical staffs;

◦ 188 journalists;

◦ 94 members of rescue staff;

◦ These numbers do not include usual or superfluous death due to medical negligence and starvation.

(According to Haaretz who compared the data with the Syrian civil war that lasted 13 years and killed 2% of the population as well).


‣ 1,410 families were totally wiped out;

‣ 3,463 families have a single survivor;

‣ 2,287 families have over a single survivor;

‣ 6,000 mothers killed;

‣ Over 35,000 orphans;

‣ 17,000 children without adult accompaniment or separated from their families.


Israelis killed

‣ 1,586 Israelis killed (including 386 soldiers in ground warfare), of which:

◦ 38 minors on October 7, 2023;

◦ Another 12 minors in the Northern Front. They belonged to Majdal Shams, some of whose inhabitants do not see themselves as Israeli citizens.


Palestinians wounded

‣ 107,244 Palestinians wounded;

‣ 14,000 persons awaiting evacuation. Of these, 2,500 children badly wounded;

◦ According to UNICEF, at the present rate of evacuation (since the closure of the Rafah crossing in May 2024), it will take 7 years to evacuate the children.

‣ Estimates claim that 5,000 children have lost at least one limb.




Israelis wounded

‣ 8,730 Israelis wounded including soldiers wounded in ground warfare.


Palestinians arrested

‣ No exact numbers given, apparently over 6,500 Palestinians arrested, including:

◦ 319 medical staff members;

◦ 41 journalists.

‣ At least 46 died during their incarceration, 4 in the GSS dungeons. The number of persons killed is not known from ground investigations.


Israelis taken hostage

‣ 251 Israelis and foreign nationals were taken hostage on October 7, 2023;

‣ 117 were released;

‣ 96 hostages of October 7,m 2023 have remained in the Gaza Strip, another 4 since previous years;

‣ Of persons held hostage, 34 are dead, another 3 from kidnappings in previous years.


Palestinians displaced

‣ Over 90% of the Gaza Strip inhabitants (about 1.9 million) have been displaced at least once;

‣ 1.6 million live in improvised tents without proper shelter from rain;

‣ About half a million are in areas destined for rain flooding;

‣ 80.7% of the Strip area are under eviction orders;

‣ “Humanitarian” areas are shelled and bombed as well;

‣ Since October 1, 2024, Israel has increased its attacks against school sheltering displaced persons. 95 attacks have caused many casualties.




Israelis displaced

‣ 52,869 persons were evacuated on October 7, 2023;

‣ 7,000 persons are still displaced.


Demolitions in the Gaza Strip

‣ 87% of the Strip’s residence were hit;

‣ The highest number is in Jabalia – 1,339 structures;

‣ 88% of the school have been hit and require reconstruction, namely 542,959 pupils have no school to return to even if the war is over at present;

‣ 123 underground electricity transformers were destroyed;

‣ 717 wells were destroyed;

‣ 330,000 meters of water pipes were destroyed;

‣ 3,310 kilometers of electricity cables were destroyed;

‣ 655,000 meters of sewage pipes were destroyed;

‣ 2,835,000 meters of tracks and roads were destroyed;

‣ 68% of farmland were destroyed;

‣ 70% of the fishing boats;

‣ 44% of the greenhouses;

‣ 95% of the cattle hit;

‣ 43% of the sheep hit.




Demolitions in Israel

‣ 1,700 structures hit;

‣ 500 structures destined for demolition.


Children in psychological distress

‣ According to research carried out by War Child Alliance Charity organization and published in the Guardian (December 11, 2024), among 550 children:

◦ 96% reported fear of coming death;

◦ 79% suffering nightmares;

◦ 73% suffering aggressiveness symptoms;

◦ 49% (including 72% boys and 26% girls) report death wish.


Hunger crisis

‣ As of November 8, 2024:

◦ 876,000 in no. 4 nutrition crisis level;

◦ 345,000 in no. 5 crisis level (highest);

◦ 38,000 adolescent girls in malnutrition;

◦ 8,000 pregnant women suffering malnutrition;

◦ Over 60,000 children will need treatment of severe malnutrition crisis at the beginning of 2025, according to UN estimates.




Health crisis

‣ 47% of the hospitals partially functional;

‣ 37% of the clinics;

‣ In the Northern Strip, the Indonesian Hospital (in Beit Lahia) partially functional;

Kamal Adwan Hospital (Beit Lahia) shelled and bombed, under siege:

◦ As of the writing of this report, generators have ceased working, drones bomb whoever tries to fix them. No access to the hospital, no ability to rescue bodies strewn at hospital gates.

Al Awda Hospital in Jabalia no longer functional.



Aid delegations

‣ Since early December, 2024:

◦ 141 applications made for delegations in the Northern Strip – only 36 of which have taken place, all in Gaza City. One limited delegation of World Health Organization arrived on December 16th to Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Northern Strip;

◦ 198 applications made for delegations in the Southern Strip, only 66 of which have taken place. Most were attacks by looters.
