Monday, July 8, 2024 – The West Bank

Raids and arrests

During the night Israeli forces raided Nablus, Hebron, Arranah, Qalqilya, Faqqua, Aqabat Jaber refugee camp, Beit Rima. During the day they raided Shuweika, Kafr Thulth, Birzeit, Kobar, Qusra, Azmut, Tammun, Burka, Udala, Beita, Salfit, Husan.

35 persons were arrested, including a girl and 2 16-year-old minors.


Clashes

1. Al Bireh - during the night special forces arrest 5 persons after wounding one of them by live fire.

2. Nablus - colonists pilgrimage Joseph’s Tomb during the night. A military raid wity bulldozers preceded them, destroyed infrastructure near the tomb, and blocking access roads. Confrontations, fire exchange, improvised explosive charges. The military retreated when the pilgrimage ended.



3. Salfit - Ariel mayor announces blocking the main entrance of Palestinian town Salfit. During the night, colonists and soldiers block the entrance. From now on, the 11,000 inhabitants of this district hub and the related villages will make their way through the back entrance and with a miles-long detour.

During the day, military forces raided the town (in Area A), firing teargas and hurling stun grenades. Confrontations ensued.

4. Jalamah Checkpoint, north-east of Jenin - one person wounded by live fire (circumstances unclear), he is handed over to the Red Crescent.

5. Qusra, south-east of Nablus - raid with teargas. Confrontations. 2 persons wounded by live fire.

6. Tammun, south of Tubas - confrontations during a raid.

7. Burka, east of Ramallah - confrontations during a raid.

8. Udala, south of Nablus - confrontations during a raid.

9. Beita, south of Nablus - evening raid. Confrontations.



10. Husan, west of Bethlehem - raid with teargas and stun grenades. Confrontations. Soldiers proceeded with live fire.

11. Tulkarm - during the night, lighting bombs fired south of town and near the Separation Wall. The bombs ignited greenhouses. The fire spread into groves of avocado and olive trees and damaged the irrigation system.


Demolition

1. Shab Al Butm, Masafer Yatta - 2 houses and 2 sheep pens demolished, 120 trees uprooted.



2. Qawawis, Masafer Yatta - an elderly Palestinian’s house is demolished. He was often attacked by colonists and soldiers, evicted and forced to live with his family relations.

3. Umm Lasafa, east of Yatta - school demolished, containing 60 school children between the ages of 5 and 11. The structure was destroyed over its contents (not removed), Border Policemen giggled and then threw a stun grenade at a group of parents and children who stood nearby. The children hurried to try and save things out of the rubble.

4. Shuweika, north of Tulkarm - destruction of greenhouses and a house.

5. Surif, north of Hebron - farm structure destroyed.




Attacks against colonists

1. Karmei Tzur, north of Hebron - firecrackers thrown at the colony.


Colonist attacks

1. Nablus - pilgrimage to Joseph’s Tomb. Detailed above.

2. Baytillu, north-west of Ramallah - colonists establish an outpost.

3. Maghayer Al Dir, east of Ramallah - colonists attack the community.



4. Kafr Ni'ma, north-west of Ramallah - colonists cut down trees.



5. Huwara, south of Nablus - colonists attack the town from the north and fire live bullets.
