The attack began when two people were wounded — one seriously and one moderately — at the petrol station near Kokhav Ya'ir. The attacker then continued to Tsur Yitshak, where two more people were wounded, also seriously and moderately. He then proceeded to Tsur Natan, where in an exchange of fire with members of the emergency response unit, one member was killed and the unit commander was seriously wounded. The attacker also fired towards the Sal'it colony, where there were no casualties. A pursuit ensued, at the end of which the attacker was killed in an open area between Tsur Natan and Tayibe, near the quarry area.
Police and Border Guard forces surrounded the attacker's home in Tayibe and interrogated family members.
