DATA

The UN Bureau for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs – OCHA OPT – has published its fortnightly report containing data since the beginning of this year in the West Bank alone (not including the Gaza Strip):

‣ 186 killed

‣ 6813 wounded

‣ 626 structures demolished

‣ 963 Palestinians left homeless

According to the Palestinian Authority for Prisoners: 19 minors have been held in administrative detention since the beginning of the year.

 

Fatalities

1. Amir Ahmad Mohammad Khalfia, 27 years old, residing in the refugee camp of En Beit el Ma (west of Nablus). Wanted for the past two years. Shot in his head and back in an ambush laid by special forces that raided the community of Zawata after tempting him to come there (according to his brother). He was shot as soon as he got out of his car. He was hospitalized in fatal condition and pronounced dead.


2. Mahmoud Jihad Al-Jarad, 23 years old, resident of Tulkarm refugee camp. During a raid on the camp, while hiding behind a vehicle, shot in the chest. Fatally wounded, pronounced dead at the hospital. According to Palestinians, unarmed. The Israeli forces would not let medical teams approach him for a long time.

 

Arrests and Detainees

1. Arrests:

During this time, 41 Palestinians were arrested in the West Bank: 1 at the Beit El Checkpoint; 1 in Ramallah; 1 (minor) in Kafr ‘Aqab; 2 at the Huwara Checkpoint; 1 at Al Aqsa Mosque; 1 at the “Container” Checkpoint; 1 at the Qalandiya Checkpoint; 1 in Biddu; 4 in Silwan; 3 in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp; 1 in Bethlehem; 1 at the Hamra Checkpoint; 1 (minor) in Qalqilya; 1 in Qaffin; 1 in Surif; 1 in At-Tuwani; 1 in Jabel Mukaber; 1 at Bab Al Amud (Damascus Gate in Jerusalem); 1 at the Shuafat refugee camp; 2 in Beit Rima; 1 in Bruqin; 1 (woman) in the Old City of Jerusalem; 1 in Al Shuyukh; 1 at the Al-Arroub refugee camp; 1 at the Anabta Checkpoint; 1 at the Beit Furiq Checkpoint; 1 at the Dotan Checkpoint; 1 at the Sara Chackpoint; 1 at the Za’atara Checkpoint; 1 in Atil; 2 in the Gaza Strip (fishermen, including a minor).


2. Administrative Detentions:

‣ Jibril Zayede, of the Jenin refugee camp. Prolonged for the second time for 6 months.

Zayed Maher Alashqar, of Sida. Prolonged for the second time for 6 months.

Hamzza Alkhatib, of Bil’in. Prolonged for the second time for 6 months.

13 administrative detainees are on hunger strike, among them Ka’ed Alfasfus who was on hunger strike in the past for 131 days.


3. Detainees:

Ahmad AlBakri was released following an 8-year prison sentence, and immediately held in custody on the demand that his release not be celebrated. Several reports of a similar pattern lately.

‣ Updates on the Burqa village detainees: among the firing colonists, one is in house arrest, the second still detained and hospitalized because of his wound. The court rejected the police’s demand to prolong the custody of 4 Palestinians and they were released (including the minor) on limiting conditions.

 

Attacks on Palestinians by the Occupation forces (IOF)

The report is chronological, marking the date of the attack.


1. Birzeit, north of Ramallah, Tuesday afternoon. A raid during which clashes ensued. No woundings were reported.


2. Zeita, north of Tulkarm, Wednesday at dawn. A raid during which clashes ensued. No arrests or woundings.


3. Aqabat Jaber refugee camp, south of Jericho, Wednesday morning. Special forces besiege a barber shop and a home at the heart of the camp. Arrest of the three men inside the barber shop. Clashes and gunfire ensued, including the use of explosive charges. Auxiliary forces enter the camp. No woundings reported.


4. Burqa, east of Ramallah. Wednesday, raid and searches. Saturday night – a raid again. Soldiers walked the streets, did not arrest anyone.


5. Tuqu’, southeast of Bethlehem, Wednesday. Clashes around the archeological site. The occupation forces fired teargas canisters to distance Palestinians. Suffocations reported.


6. Al ‘Aza refugee camp, Bethlehem, Wednesday. Clashes during a raid and arrests. The forces fired live ammunition and teargas.


7. Issawiya, northeast Jerusalem. Clashes on Wednesday night. Firecrackers thrown at the Israeli forces.


8. Raids without clashes on Tuesday and Wednesday: Hebron (close to the Palestinian Police compound), As-Samu (south of Hebron), Halhul (north of Hebron), Surif (north of Hebron), Hajje (east of Qalqilya), Beit Ummar (north of Hebron), Shuafat refugee camp (northeast Jerusalem), Bethlehem (undercover Israeli agents arrest a Palestinian in the center of the city).


9. Zawata, northwest of Nablus. Thursday dawn. Raid on the town The Israeli forces open live fire at Amir Khleife, a wanted Palestinian. Two bullets in the head and back. His family claims it was a planned ambush. Fire exchanged afterwards, Israeli forces retreat. A killed man. No more woundings reported.


10. Anabta, east of Tulkarm, Thursday dawn. Raid and clashes.


11. Beit Rima, northwest of Ramallah, Thursday dawn. Raid on the town, accompanied by a military bulldozer. Vehicles confiscated after being impacted. The forces fired teargas, stun grenades and rubber-coated bullets. Two detainees.


12. Qabatiya, south of Jenin, Thursday. Raid and fire exchanges. No woundings reported.


13. Silwan, East Jerusalem, Thursday. Clashes at the Ein Al-Luza neighborhood.


14. Al-Jib, northwest of Jerusalem, Thursday. Raid using massive firing of teargas and stun grenades. No arrests. Suffocations reported.


15. Bruqin, west of Salfit, Thursday. Raid for arrest purposes. House searches.


16. Jalbun, east of Jenin, Thursday noon. Raid, clashes.


17. At-Tuwani, Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, Thursday. Israeli forces attack the vehicle of activists Mohammad Hureini. Previously, a series of raids by Havat Maon colonists on the family’s fields, and harassment of the family members by the official forces (usually reported here), arrest of Mohammad.


18. Al-Yamun, west of Jenin, Thursday. Raid, clashes. The forces fire rubber-coated bullets, teargas and stun grenades. On Sunday, too, clashes including mutual fire. Unofficial reports of a wounded Israeli soldier.


19. Tulkarm refugee camp, Friday dawn. Raid on the camp and eastern neighborhoods up to the village of A-Labad. Raid by special forces. Snipers situate themselves on residents’ roofs, shooting live fire. Fire exchanges. 7 wounded, including one in serious condition. One killed (reported unarmed) who tried to hide behind a vehicle, lit a cigarette and was shot. The forces prevented ambulance access. No arrests carried out. The forces retreated soon afterwards.


20. Za’atara Junction, south of Nablus, Friday dawn. The forces shoot and wound a Palestinian. Grounds uncertain.


21. Beita, south of Nablus, Friday following noon prayer. In the weekly march protesting land theft at Jabel Sabih, the forces fire teargas and rubber-coated bullets. Palestinians throw stones and burn tires. Suffocations reported.


22. Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya, Friday following noon prayer. At the weekly march protesting the closure of the village’s main route and land theft clashes ensue Palestinians throw stones. The forces fire teargas and rubber-coated bullets. 4 wounded from rubber-coated bullets and numerous suffocation cases. On Saturday afternoon clashes are renewed, two wounded by rubber-coated bullets. One of them is 15-years-old Tarek Jam’ah, shot in the head and hurt in the eye. Reportedly lost the eye and is in serious condition.


23. Beit Dajan, east of Nablus, Friday noon. At the weekly march protesting land theft for the colonist outposts east of the village, the forces fired teargas and stun grenades. A number of suffocation cases among journalists and activists. Among those wounded – head of the village council.


24. ‘Urif, south of Hebron, Friday night. Two 3-year-olds came out of their home and were lost around Yitzhar colony. The forces fired teargas at the people searching for them. Yitzhar colonists found them and returned them to the villagers.


25. Deir Istiya, north of Salfit, Friday. The forces halted the weekly march protest the colonist outpost that has invaded their lands, and prevented Palestinians from accessing their fields.


26. Al Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, Saturday evening. Camp raided. Arrest and clashes ensued.


27. Huwara Checkpoint, south of Nablus. The forces attack Palestinians crossing the checkpoint. Red crescent teams brought them to a Nablus hospital.


28. Sebastia, northwest of Nablus, Sunday. The occupation forces and a colonist bus invade the archeological site using massive teargas and rubber-coated ammunition. Suffocations. A soldier removes a Palestine flat from the site. A resident is detained.


29. Ya’bad, southwest of Jenin. Shooting at the nearby Dotan checkpoint. The forces raid in order to confiscate video from the security cameras. They discover that Palestinians turned the cameras off ahead of time.

 

Demolitions, Confiscations and Blocking

1. Al Khader, south of Bethlehem. Demolition orders for two houses. One under construction, the other inhabited by 5 persons. It is the fifth time their home is being demolished.


2. Sarata, west of Salfit. 7 orders of cessation of construction.


3. Umm Safa, north of Ramallah. Demolition order of a house.


4. Silwan. The forces have begun to destroy the field of Khaled al-Zayer, including form structures, uprooting of fruit trees (olive, apple, pomegranate and lemon trees), his belongings have been thrown into the wadi. He managed to stop the demolition of the house itself. Part of the Wadi Rababa (Gai Ben Hinom) project.


5. Beit Hanina, East Jerusalem. Tamer al-Baqri was forced to demolish his own home.


6. Kufr al-Dik, west of Salfit. The forces destroy land by a bulldozer while preparing the road to the colony (400 meters) and cut down 20 olive trees, 4-6 years old.


7. Al Hadidiya, northern Palestinian Jordan Valley. 2 vehicles confiscated.


8. Kisan, southeast of Bethlehem. The forces flatten lands adjacent to the colony Ibei Nahal.


9. Jericho. Confiscation of a caravan belonging to Qasr Hisham.


10. The Old City of Jerusalem. One month after the Sob Laban family who has lived for 70 years was expelled in favor of the colonists, they are forced to pay 17,187 NIS to the Israeli police for 160 hours of “security”, 17,000 NIS to the private firm that evicted them, 13,000 NIS court expenses…


11. ‘Urif, south of Nablus. The forces notify their intention to demolish the family home of Khaled Sabah who shot and killed 4 Israelis in the Eli colony.

 

Palestinian Attacks against the Occupation Forces (IOF)

1. Al Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron. Fireworks and fire bombs at the watchtower at the entrance to the camp, a fire bomb in another event.

2. The Muraba Checkpoint, southwest of Nablus. Shooting.

3. Beit Ummar, north of Hebron. Elbow explosive charges.

4. Shuafat refugee camp, northeast Jerusalem. Fire crackers at the military watchtower.

5. Dotan Checkpoint, southwest of Jenin. Shooting at a speeding car. No casualties. On Saturday, another shooting incident.

 

Settlers attacks against Palestinians

1. Sinjil, northwest of Ramallah. Colonist threaten Palestinians “they will kill them” in the presence of soldiers.


2. Kisan, southeast of Bethlehem. After the forces prepared the ground, colonist stole and vandalized irrigation pipes belonging to Hasan Yusuf Al’abiat.


3. Silwan, Al-Touri neighborhood, colonists attack Palestinians in a public park and wound three of them. They hospitalized.


4. Bani Naim, east of Hebron. Colonists take over a Palestinian’s car. He tries to keep the vehicle license in order to prove ownership. The soldiers take him away.


5. Turmus Aya, northeast of Ramallah. Attack of vehicles and vandalism.


6. Thala, northern Palestinian Jordan Valley. Colonist attack a Palestinian encampment.


7. Burin, south of Nablus. Colonists are recorded vandalizing olive trees.


8. Road 60. Stone-throwing. Palestinian vehicles damaged.


9. Hebron. The colonists’ provocative Saturday march in the Old City of Hebron.


10. Wadi Siq and Ras a-Tin, east of Ramallah. Colonists invade the elementary schools at Ras a-Tin and Wadi Sik, vandalizing equipment. At Wadi Sik they steal a generator (the only source of electrical power in the school).


11. Burqa, east of Ramallah. Colonist from the outpost Oz Zion celebrate their support of the Jewish detainee who shot to death a Burqa Palestinian villager. Palestinians organize a citizens-guard, fearing invasions by colonists and official Israeli forces.

 

Attacks by Palestinians against settlers

1. Ramallah. Shots fired at a colonist bus north of the city.

2. Sinjil, northeast of Ramallah. Stone throwing.

3. Bat Hefer. West of Tulkarm. Palestinian record of shooting at the community.

4. Azzun, east of Qalqiliya. Vehicle carrying 2 colonists entered the town and was stoned. The driver was wounded. They were rescued by the army.

5. Tulkarm. Colonist vehicle enters the town and is rescued by the Palestinian Security Forces.

6. Nili, west of Ramallah. A Palestinian tries to stab colonists at the junction and escaped.

 

The Gaza Strip

Fire at fishing boats within the 3-nautical miles (in spite of agreements allowing 12- nautical miles), arrest of a minor fisherman and confiscation of his boat.
