Data from the West Bank, October 7, 2023 - March 20, 2024

Palestinians killed

‣ Since October 7th: 422 persons killed (108 of them minors), of whom 9 were killed by colonists, and 3 by soldier-colonists.

‣ Since the beginning of 2024: 114 persons killed (30 of them minors).

‣ As of March 18 - 300 of the persons killed (72 of them minors) during army raids.


Israelis killed

‣ Since October 7th: 16 persons killed, 5 of them soldiers.


Palestinians wounded

‣ 4,690 persons wounded since October 7th (724 of them minors).

‣ 2,657 persons wounded during army raids.


Israelis wounded

‣ 101 persons wounded since October 7th.


Arrests

‣ Since October 7th, 7,725 Palestinians have been arrested.

‣ 9,100 detainees and prisoners are in jail.

‣ 14 incarcerated persons have died under various circumstances since October 7th, until the end of February.

‣ 100 eviction orders from Jerusalem (45 of them from Al Aqsa) were issued since October 7th. This routine picks up especially towards religious holidays.


Army attacks

‣ Since October 7th, the monthly average of army raids is 670 - nearly double the number prior to October 7th (304 a month).

‣ Prominent presence of bulldozers destroying infrastructures almost in every raid of a refugee camp.

‣ 55% of the demolished homes in the West Bank are a result of these operations.

‣ 903 persons have been displaced in these operations.

‣ 300 persons killed and 2,657 wounded.

Demolitions

‣ Since October 7th, 300 houses were demolished, 1,640 Palestinians displaced.

‣ Since the beginning of 2024, 580 Palestinians, 200 of them minors, were displaced (400 during this period last year);

‣ 55% in military operations;

‣ 38% in Area C and East Jerusalem;

‣ 7% under collective punishment.

‣ As of March 21st, the shepherd community Al Hasam (10 families) was evicted from its home of 30 years.


Colonist violence

OCHA OPT have documented 660 colonist attacks since October 7th. 134 of them ended in casualties.

Palestinians killed

‣ According to Euro Med Human Rights Monitoring, whose data include the missing (buried under the rubble): 40, 042 persons killed.

‣ 31,988 bodies have been brought to the hospitals (according to OCHA OPT), of which:

◦ 14, 861 were children (according to UNRWA the number of children killed in the Gaza Strip in 4 months is higher than that of children in all conflicts zones in the past 4 years);

◦ 9,273 women (37 mothers every day);

◦ 134 journalists;

◦ 364 medical staff members;

◦ 48 rescue operatives;

◦ 17,000 children remain unaccompanied or separated from their parents. 10,000 children are orphaned of at least one parent.


Israelis killed

‣ 1,230 persons killed on October 7th;

‣ 850 of them civilians;

‣ 36 of them minors;

‣ 250 soldiers during the ground invasion;

‣ About 40 captives killed, at least 34 of those still held;

‣ At least 8 bodies of captives returned to Israel.


Palestinians wounded

‣ 74,188 persons wounded;

‣ According to IPC:

◦ 23% of them are children;

According to Euro Med:

◦ 440 medical staff members;

◦ 155 rescue operatives.


Israelis wounded

‣ About 5,400 on October 7th

‣ 1,489 soldiers wounded in the ground invasion


Israeli captives

‣ 134 held in captivity, 2 of them minors.


Arrestees

‣ Their number is unknown.

‣ According to Euro Med, 3,320 are known to be arrested or disappeared after arrest. This number is partial, uncertain.

‣ Sources in the West Bank know of 400 Gazans who are undergoing medical treatment in Israel.

‣ Israel was about to expel 20 cancer patients and 4 newborns. Physicians for Human Rights petitioned the Supreme Court and for the moment this expulsion is on hold.


Demolitions

‣ 234 million cub. tons of rubble in the Gaza Strip. According to estimates, it will take years to be removed;

‣ 368,000 houses are uninhabitable:

◦ 69.7% in the Northern Strip, 45% in the Central Strip, 53% in Khan Yunis, 29.5% in Rafah;

◦ 175 communication centers destroyed;

◦ 2,131 industrial facilities;

◦ 438 schools;

◦ 28 hospitals;

◦ 65 clinics;

◦ 192 ambulances;

◦ 200 heritage institutions;

◦ 3 churches;

◦ 634 mosques;

◦ 2,263 water holes destroyed;

◦ 1,277 greenhouses;

Palestinians displaced

‣ About 2 million displaced persons. About a million of them in the Southern Strip.


Israelis displaced

‣ About 250,000 displaced persons from the north and south of the country.

Hunger

IPC report categorizes hunger, presenting 5 categories:

1. Forecast for March 15 to July 15:

◦ 1 million at level 5 – catastrophe;

◦ 854,000 at level 4 – emergency;

◦ Total of 2.23 million at level 3 and upward. This is the highest level of hunger ever documented since this categorization began.

2. Present situation:

◦ Northern Strip: 55% at level 5, 25% at level 4; 20 % at level 3.

◦ Central Strip: 30% at level 5, 45% at level 4, 20% at level 3, 5% at level 2 (stress).

◦ Southern Strip: 25% at level 5, 40% at level 4, 30% at level 3, 5% at level 2.

◦ According to the survey in the Northern Strip, 67% families underwent at least 24 hours without food 10 times a month.

◦ 29% of the 6-23 month old babies in the Northern Strip suffer severe malnutrition as of mid-February.

◦ (A previous measuring in mid-January indicated 16.2%, namely 1 of every 3 babies).

◦ The World Health Organization reports a dramatic rise in premature births, underweight newborns.


Aid trucks

‣ Prior to October 7th, the daily average of 500 aid trucks was noted, 150 of them bearing food.

‣ Since October 7th, the daily average is 90, 60 of which bear food.

 

Wednesday, March 13 - The West Bank

Killed

1. Rabi’a Al Nursi, 20-years-old, from Jenin.

2. Mahmoud Abu Al Heija, Jenin.

3. Mustafa Taleb Al Wahadna, 17-years-old, from Al-Walaja.


Arrests

At least 17 persons arrested, a woman and a minor among them (from Beit Ummar).

Clashes

1. Jenin city and refugee camp - 8 hours of a raid that began before midnight o Tuesday. Military vehicles and bulldozers raided the city and camp. In the confrontations - fire exchange and explosions of side charges. A bulldozer destroyed infrastructures. Later, a special force fired at a group of Palestinians standing close to the emergency ward in the government hospital in town. 2 persons killed and 5 wounded moderately-severely.



2. Jalbun, north-east of Jenin - confrontations during a raid.

3. Shu’afat refugee camp, north-east Jerusalem - confrontations during the evening.

4. Al Khader, south of Bethlehem - confrontations during a raid.

5. Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus - raid with bulldozer. Confrontations. No casualties reported.

6. ‘Arura, north-wet of Ramallah - raid to conduct arrests. Confrontations.


Attacks against the army

1. Tunnels Checkpoint (Al Nafaq) North-west of Bethlehem - a 17-year-old (according to some versions, 15-year-old) riding an electric bicycle arrives at the checkpoint and stabs a woman-soldier (she is severely wounded) and a security guard. He is shot and denied medical treatment, dies. His body is taken.


Demolitions

1. Al Auja, north of Jericho - 2 commercial structures, a restaurant among them, are demolished.

2. Jenin - demolition order for a 2-storey house inhabited by 8 persons, to be carried out within 96 hours.

3. Hebron - taking measurements in preparation of demolishing the home of the terrorist who shot to death 2 persons at Re’em Junction.


Colonist attacks

1. Majdal Bani Fadil, south-east of Nablus - colonists uproot and vandalize 50 olive and almond trees.



2. Al Farisiya, northern Palestinian Jordan Valley - colonists on ATVs attack shepherds.

3. Jalbun - colonists fire at homes (apparently from the direction of Merav colony).

 

Wednesday, March 13 - The Gaza Strip

‣ 10 lethal attacks;

‣ 88 persons killed;

‣ 135 persons wounded;

‣ 24 hours.


‣ The number of children dead of malnutrition and dehydration has risen to 27.

Northern Strip

1. Gaza City:

‣ Al Daraj neighbourhood - a house bombed;

‣ Al Zeitoun neighbourhood - a house bombed on Salah A-Din Street. In the two bombings above - 15 persons killed, 2 of them women and 7 children;


Al Zeitoun - 15 persons killed. 7 children


‣ A house bombed on Al Sahba Street - 2 persons killed, many missing under the rubble;

‣ Al Kuwaiti Square - people waiting in line for food are attacked - 2 persons killed and 60 wounded;

‣ Al Ahali Hospital - parachuted aid equipment damaged the hospital’s solar panels;

‣ Tel Al Hawa - 5 persons killed;

‣ Fear in vain of 2 divers coming from the northern Strip to Zikim beach;

‣ Jabalia - A house bombed during Iftar meal. Number of casualties unclear.

Central Strip



1. Deir Al Balah - 10 persons killed in a nocturnal bombing.

2. Al Bureij refugee camp - bombing. 8 persons killed.

3. Nuseirat refugee camp - bombing. Number of casualties unclear.


Southern Strip

1. Hamed - the Israeli army retreated from the town. 17 bodies removed from rubble.

‣ UNRWA storehouse attacked - 5 persons killed, among them an elderly man and a 14-years-old. 22 persons wounded;

‣ A vehicle attacked - 2 persons killed. One of them claimed to be senior Hamas member;

‣ Farmland bombed close to Egyptian border;

3. Khan Yunis - northern and western parts of city bombed. Clash with armed men. 24 bodies removed from various parts of the city.

 

Wednesday, March 13 - South Lebanon

Killed

‣ Commander of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades in South Lebanon was killed in a bombing of a vehicle south of Tyre.


Attacks against Israel

‣ Alarm sirens in Hanita, Ramot Naftali, a hit in Zar’it, sirens in the Golan.

‣ Missiles at a military force in Shuba village and Shab’a farm - reports of a direct hit.


Attacks against South Lebanon

‣ Bombing of a vehicle south of Tyre, Naqoura, Ej Jbal, Ayta ash Shab, Dhayra.

 

Thursday, March 14 - The West Bank

Israelis killed

Clashes

1. Qalandia Checkpoint, north of Jerusalem - confrontations during which a Palestinian was wounded by live fire.

2. Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, south of Nablus - raid on houses. In one of them 2 of the inhabitants were attacked, and hospitalized. The Palestinians claim that during the searches, jewelry and cash were stolen.

3. Al Khader, south of Bethlehem - archaeological site area raided, confrontations. Teargas fired.

4. Al Aqsa - the police raided the Al Qibli Mosque and forcibly removed people praying who remained overnight.



5. Al-Am'ari refugee camp, south of Ramallah - special force arrests a refugee camp dweller, confrontations follow.

6. Jayus, east of Qalqilya - one person wounded by live fire, circumstances unclear.

7. Old Askar refugee camp east of Nablus - raid and confrontations, including fire exchange and improvised explosive charges.

7. Shu’afat refugee camp, north-east Jerusalem - confrontations.


Attacks against the army

Beit Kama - a Rahat dweller stabs an army man who was waiting at the café. The army man manages to shoot him before collapsing and dying too. Another 2 persons wounded. The Palestinian dwelling in Rahat was originally from the Gaza Strip.




Demolitions

1. Qalandia, north of Jerusalem - cessation of work order on stadium claiming this is illegal construction in Area C.

2. Barta’a, north-west of Jenin - 7 farming structures demolished, among them a chicken coop for 200 chickens and a sheep pen.



3. Qabalan, south of Nablus - 2 farming structures and a water hole destroyed.




Attacks against colonists

1. Bizzariya, north-west of Nablus - stones thrown at vehicles.

2. Kifl Haris, north of Salfit - stones thrown and vehicle damaged.

3. Efrat, south of Bethlehem - stones thrown at vehicles.

4. Aqraba, south-east of Nablus - stones thrown at vehicle.


Colonist attacks

1. US declares sanctions on 2 outposts involved in violence against Palestinians - Havat Moshe (Palestinian Jordan Valley) and Havat Tzvi (north-west of Ramallah), in addition to sanctions on 3 more colonists.

 

Thursday, March 14 - The Gaza Strip

‣ 7 attacks;

‣ 64 persons killed;

‣ 110 persons wounded;

‣ 24 hours.


‣ US in collaboration with the Jordanian army parachuted 13,000 meals.

Northern Strip

1. Gaza City:


AL Kuwaiti Square. Flour sack and blood


‣ Al Kuwaiti Square - 2 shootings at people waiting for food: one in the early morning, killing 7 persons and wounding 86. The second in the late evening hours, differing versions. Palestinians claim it was a combined shooting of an attack helicopter and snipers. The Israeli army claims it did not shoot. The persons killed number 20 to 50. 20 bodies were removed. The rest are on the ground. 155 persons wounded.


His name is Mohammad. This is the first Ramadan without his parents, killed on October 29th


‣ Sheikh Radwan - 4 persons killed, a child among them, in a bombed vehicle.

‣ Shati refugee camp - house bombed, number of casualties unclear.

‣ Jabalia - house bombed, one person killed. A mosque bombed.


Hunger


Central Strip

1. Al Bureij refugee camp - house bombed, 9 persons killed and 15 wounded. Another house bombed - 5 persons killed.



2. Nuseirat refugee camp - 12 persons killed in attack on aid storehouse. UNRWA worker among them.

Southern Strip

1. Hamed - another 15 bodies removed from the rubble.

2. Khan Yunis, Al Mawasi in western part of town - DP camp bombed. Number of casualties unclear. House bombed in Al Zuhur - 2 persons killed.

 

Thursday, March 14 - South Lebanon

Attacks against Israel

‣ Interception of flying target entering Israeli territory.

‣ 3 missiles at Malkiya.

‣ Alert sirens in Kfar Blum.

‣ Missiles at gathering in Ramot Naftali (Sheikh Abad).

‣ Gunfire at Post Blida.


Attacks against South Lebanon

Tyre Harfa and Ein Al Zarka (Tyre district), Qunin (Bint Jbeil district), Al Naqoura (house bombed).

Suzanne Abu Al Hawa is a Palestinian writer living in the US. She visited the Southern Strip and heard testimonies of women hospitalized. Harsh words.

One of the testimonies is by a Palestinian woman whose husband was arrested with others. The women and children were held separately and heard the tortured screams. When he was released, they fled south. Soldiers etched a Star of David on his body…

Jana Subhi Al Najar, 14-years-old. An outstanding student, loves drawing and creating jewelry from beads and sea shells. On December 26th she was killed in an aerial bombing in Khan Yunis together with her two sisters, Sara and Aala.








 

Friday, March 15 - The West Bank

Killed

Mahmoud Nisim Al Anati, 26-years-old, Al Fawwar refugee camp. Shot in the belly on July 17th during a raid, died of his wounds today.


Arrests

At least 15 persons arrested. Another Palestinian detainee - Jun’ah Abu Ghneima - died in an Israeli prison. Was accused of aiding Hamas.


Clashes

1. Tulkarm city and refugee camp - night raid on houses, shops and much damage. Confrontations, fire exchange. No casualties reported.

2. Al Far’a, south of Tubas - raid with bulldozer. Snipers on rooftops. Confrontations - fire exchange and improvised explosive charge. No casualties reported.

3. Al Aqsa - restricted number of people coming to Friday prayers. Especially crowding and restrictions at Qalandia Checkpoint. 80,000 people allowed in to pray. Red Crescent teams were not allowed in, although every year they are. The prayer was unhampered and with minimal police intervention.



4. Arraba, south of Jenin - soldiers attacked an elderly man and bruised him during a raid on a house.
