The American-Israeli attack on Iran, day 40

General

1. U.S. President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire. A White House source reported that both Iran and Israel agreed to halt fire. Oil prices dropped by 10% following the announcement. Negotiations on the future of the ceasefire and conditions for ending the war are expected to take place in Islamabad on Friday.

2. Benjamin Netanyahu stated the ceasefire does not include Lebanon. Iran announced that, in light of massive Israeli attacks in Lebanon after the ceasefire announcement, the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all vessels except Iranian ships or those originating from Iranian ports. The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran informed mediators it would not attend talks with the United States and would resume attacks on Israel if the ceasefire in Lebanon does not take effect.

3. Al-Aqsa Mosque remains closed to worshipers, 40th consecutive day. The Jerusalem Waqf announced it will reopen starting from the next dawn prayer.


‣ Iran

A noticeable reduction in the intensity of the conflict following the ceasefire announcement. 20 attacks in 4 provinces, with 50% in Sistan and Baluchestan; 25% in Tehran and 20% in Hormozgan.


1. Events:

◦ Multiple explosions at a refinery (Lavan Island); attack on an air base (Konarak).

2. Casualties:

◦ No casualties reported over the past 24 hours.

◦ The Iranian Ministry of Health released general figures on the state of the healthcare system, including:

- 518 current hospitalizations;

- more than 30,000 treated and discharged cases;

- 26 deaths among medical staff;

- damage to dozens of medical centers and emergency facilities;

- hundreds of children and women among the killed and injured.


‣ Israel

Until the ceasefire, 650 missiles were launched at Israel from Iran, including 60 cluster missiles with multiple warheads. 24 people were killed across Israel and the West Bank by missile impacts or interception debris. Four others died on their way to protected areas, two from fire from Lebanon and one from Israeli military fire. The Home Front Command announced that most restrictions will be lifted starting tomorrow at 6:00 AM, except in the north, where fire continued today.

1. Events:

◦ a cluster missile hit the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area. A building was struck in Petah Tikva, interception debris fell in Tel Aviv and Bnei Brak; a cluster missile hit the Be'er Sheva area, debris fell in Tel Sheva; impacts, falls and interception debris in Haifa, the Krayot and the north.

2. Casualties:

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- 31 civilians killed and approximately 7,100 injured, about 100 still hospitalized;

- 12 soldiers killed and 411 injured, including 27 seriously.


Gulf States

United Arab Emirates

◦ 35 drone attacks recorded throughout the day;

◦ a fire broke out at the Habshan gas complex (major energy facility).


Kuwait

◦ 28 Iranian drone attacks reported throughout the day. Most drones were intercepted.


Qatar

◦ air defenses intercepted at least 7 missiles and drones.


Saudi Arabia

◦ a key oil pipeline (East–West pipeline) was directly struck by an Iranian drone.


Lebanon

A large-scale Israeli air campaign across Lebanon. Approximately 160 strikes within two hours. Hundreds killed and injured. Hospitals called for blood donations.



1. Events:

◦ Airstrikes: Aabbasiyyeh; Tyre (3 killed, including Suzan Khalil of Al Manar and 23 injured); drones struck vehicles in Saida (8 killed and 22 injured), alongside additional airstrikes; Doueir; Qlaileh (drone struck an ambulance, 4 killed); Kana; Yohmor Al Shaqif; Ras El AinSemmaqiyeh road (vehicle strike, injured); Berghoz; Kfour; Al Mansouri; Jmaijmeh; Tyre; drone strikes in Chehabiyeh; Sarafand; Qasmiyeh (drone struck a motorcyclist); Abou el Assouad; Kounine; Beirut, particularly the southern suburbs, and Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport (at least 80 killed and about 200 injured); Zahlé; Al-Hermel (Islamic Health Center bombed, killed and injured); Bchamoun (killed and injured); Zefta (killed and injured); Douris (killed and injured); Shmustar (cemetery struck during a funeral, dozens killed and injured); Karak (killed and injured); Sarafand (killed and injured); Kayfoun (at least 35 killed and many injured); Deir El Zahrani (killed and injured); Ansar (killed and injured); Houmine El Tahta (killed and injured); Jouaiyya (Islamic Health Center bombed, 3 killed and several injured); Baisariyeh (killed and injured); Aadloun; Arkey; Arab Salim; Siddikine; and others.



◦ gunfire from a vehicle toward the U.S. embassy building in Beirut. No casualties reported.



2. Casualties during the day:

◦ Initial estimate by the Lebanese Ministry of Health:

- 182 killed and 890 injured.

◦ Estimate by Lebanese Civil Defense:

- 254 killed and 1,165 injured.
