The American-Israeli attack on Iran, day 19

General

Israel struck Iran’s South Pars gas field and nearby Asaluyeh infrastructure - the biggest energy escalation of the war to date - while also announcing the killing of Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib. Iran retaliated with attacks on energy targets in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, while also firing cluster-munition missiles at Israel. In Lebanon, Israel intensified airstrikes in Beirut and hit bridges over the Litani River, while ground operations in the south expanded. The United States continued strikes on Iranian military targets and was actively weighing reinforcement options.


Iran

Over the past 24 hours, recorded attacks damaged 29 distinct objects or facilities, including a wide range of target types. In some cases, damage from nearby strikes or secondary effects was also reported.


1. Events:

Tehran Province, accounting for 49% of recorded attacks, ranks first among targeted provinces. Hormozgan (8%) and Isfahan (7%) follow, with Markazi and Bushehr next. Targets include South Pars gas field and nearby infrastructure; Shahid Ebadat Garrison (Marivan); Basij headquarters (Tehran); IRGC garrison in Saadat Abad (Tehran); missile site (Khomeini Shahr); Imam Reza Basij base in Dashti village (Isfahan).

◦ Under international humanitarian law, medical facilities, educational institutions, humanitarian facilities, religious sites and emergency service centers have special protected status. Among attacked objects: Panahi Sports Complex (Tehran); damage to historic buildings in Saadabad Complex (Tehran); two wrestling halls (Tehran); Bushehr nuclear power plant site; Shahid Kazemi Sports Complex (Tehran).

2. Casualties:

◦ 1 senior official, Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, killed. No reliable nationwide daily civilian toll available.

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- Civilian fatalities: 1,354 (including at least 207 children and 227 women)

- Military fatalities: 1,138

- Unclassified (civilian/military): 622


Israel

Cluster munitions are becoming a growing challenge for Israeli air defenses, as they must be intercepted before separation at altitude.

1. Events:

◦ Iran fired cluster-warhead missiles at Israel. One missile was not intercepted and dispersed sub-munitions in civilian areas in Tel Aviv; a couple in their 70s killed; a major rail station damaged; train traffic halted; power outage in Rosh HaAyin due to interception debris; impacts in Petah Tikva.


◦ In the West Bank, a direct hit in Beit Awa killed at least three women in a beauty salon and injured at least 13 - first deadly Iranian strike in the West Bank during the war.

2. Casualties:

◦ Israel: 2 killed (elderly civilians), 192 injured.

◦ The West Bank: at least 3 killed, 13 injured.

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- 19 killed (17 civilians, 2 soldiers)

- 3,727 injured, 74 still hospitalized


Gulf States

Iran expanded the war by striking Gulf energy infrastructure following the South Pars attack. Gas facilities targeted in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. In Qatar, strikes hit LNG facilities in Ras Laffan, causing major fires, no injuries reported. Saudi Arabia intercepted four ballistic missiles targeting Riyadh; 4 injured by shrapnel near a refinery. UAE reported attacks on Habshan gas facility and Bab field; operations halted after interceptions, no casualties reported. Kuwait intercepted Iranian drones.


Qatar

1. Events:

◦ Iranian strikes on Ras Laffan LNG/gas facilities (fires, significant damage).

2. Casualties:

◦ No injuries reported.

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- 7 killed (military helicopter crash in operational context).


Saudi Arabia

1. Events:

◦ Iranian ballistic missiles targeting Riyadh and energy sites; most intercepted.

2. Casualties:

◦ 4 injured (shrapnel).

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- No nationwide total available.


United Arab Emirates (UAE)

1. Events:

◦ Iranian attacks on Habshan gas facility and Bab oil field; interceptions, operational disruptions.

2. Casualties:

◦ No casualties reported.

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- 8 killed (including soldiers).


Kuwait

1. Events:

◦ Iranian drones intercepted over Kuwaiti airspace.

2. Casualties:

◦ No casualties reported.

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- No confirmed figures.


United States

1. Events:

◦ Continued air campaign against Iranian military targets; consideration of reinforcements; informed in advance of South Pars strike but not directly involved.

2. Casualties:

◦ No new fatalities reported.

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

- 13 service members killed

- At least 200 injured (mostly minor)


Lebanon

Israel intensified strikes in Beirut, killing at least 10 and destroying a 10-story building near the city center. Strikes also hit bridges over the Litani River, expanding operations into strategic infrastructure, framed as preventing Hezbollah movement.


1. Events:

◦ Airstrikes in Beirut (multi-story building destroyed; central district hit, 10 killed, 27 injured); strikes on Litani River bridges; expanded ground activity in southern Lebanon (village searches, troop buildup), including Baalbek and Jibchit (11 killed, 9 injured); Nabatieh (11 injured, all civil defense personnel); Sohmor (Beqaa, 2 killed, 6 injured); Saida (vehicle strike, 1 killed); Borj Qalaouiye (drone strike on motorcycle); Deir El Zahrani (2 killed, siblings).


2. Casualties:

◦ 56 killed over the past 24 hours.

◦ Since March 2, 2026:
