General

1. UN Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security Gilles Michaud was briefly detained upon his arrival yesterday at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv and questioned by Israeli authorities for approximately 45 minutes regarding a previous official visit conducted in August 2025 that had been coordinated in advance with Israeli authorities. Shin Bet personnel confiscated his passport and transferred him to a waiting area, treatment he later described as “exceptional” for a UN official. In response, he canceled his planned meetings in Israel and said he had never encountered such treatment from the authorities of any country during his UN service.

2. Approximately 50 patients and their companions who were supposed to leave the Gaza Strip for medical treatment abroad have been stranded since noon near the Rafah crossing due to obstacles imposed by the Israeli army to their passage. The European team accompanying them left the area, and they remained without care or food.

3. Thirteen detainees released from detention facilities in Israel were transferred by the Red Cross to Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
