Data, October 7, 2023 - December 31, 2024 – The Gaza Strip

Palestinians killed

‣ According to the Palestinian Health Ministry based on killed persons brought to hospitals – 45,717 Palestinians. Of these:

◦ About 17,000 children, of them 13,319 identified;

◦ 12,035 schoolchildren killed;

◦ 492 teachers;

◦ 1,091 babies, of which:

- Over 800 were less than 1-year-old;

- 238 were born and killed in the war.

◦ 363 members of aid organizations;

◦ 1,057 medical staff members;

◦ 94 rescue staff;

◦ 193 journalists;

‣ 1,410 families totally wiped out (as of October 2024);

‣ 11,000 persons missing;

‣ 35,000 orphans;

‣ 4,797 bodies unidentifiable.


Israelis killed

‣ 1,593 killed, of them 36 minors in the Israeli territory near the Gaza Strip. Of them:

◦ 393 soldiers killed in ground warfare (825 since October 7, 2023);

◦ 74 of the kidnapped hostages, 36 killed and still held in captivity.


Palestinians wounded

‣ 108,856 persons wounded. Of these:

◦ 21.026 schoolchildren;

◦ 2,865 teachers;

◦ Over 54,238 persons wounded who are unidentifiable or not registered.



Israelis wounded

‣ About 8,000 persons wounded since October 7, 2023. Of these:

◦ 5,575 soldiers (2,528 in ground warfare).


Israeli kidnapped hostages

‣ 251 kidnapped hostages (and another 4 kidnapped previously);

◦ 117 kidnapped hostages returned alive;

◦ 74 killed;

◦ 38 bodies returned;

◦ 100 still kept in captivity, 36 of them known with certainty as killed;

‣ Reports of returnees about starvation, sexual assault and violence.


Palestinian detainees

‣ No precise number;

‣ Reports vary between 4,000 and 6,500 detainees.



Destruction and displaced persons

‣ 69% of total buildings hit;

‣ 92% of total residences;

‣ 80% of commercial structures;

‣ 68% of traffic routes;

‣ 53% of hospitals shut down;

‣ 62% of clinics;

‣ 130 ambulances hit;

‣ 88% of educational facilities;

‣ 92 institutions of higher learning;

‣ 90% of total fowl;

‣ 20,000 beehives;

‣ 87% of the flocks;

‣ 68% of tended farmland;

‣ 52% farming water reservoirs;

‣ 44% of the greenhouses;

‣ 72% of the fishing fleet.



‣ 1.9 million displaced persons (90% of the population);



‣ 80.5% of the Gaza Strip are defined under pending eviction orders;

‣ Over 450,000 persons are in places endangered with flooding;

‣ 945,000 lack protective winter gear;

‣ 1,452 tents swept away or flooded during the stormy rainy days in the end of December 2024;



‣ 6 babies froze to death in 72 hours;

‣ 1.5 sq.m. are the average living space of displaced persons in shelters.


Humanitarian crisis

‣ During December 2024, out of 569 applications for coordinating aid delegations, only 33% were actually filled. None of the north of Gaza City (the area under siege for 85 days now);

‣ According to forecasts:

◦ 91% of the Strip inhabitants suffer lack of nutrition security level 3 or higher (out of 5);



◦ 876,000 are on level 4;

◦ 345,000 are on the highest level – 5;

◦ Over 96% of children age 6 to 23 months-old do not receive adequate nutrition;

◦ 290,000 children under 5-years-old do not receive adequate nutrition;

◦ 150,000 pregnant and nursing women do not receive adequate nutrition;

◦ 60,000 children need treatment, suffering severe malnutrition;

◦ 14,000 children need medical evacuation. Since May, only 378 children evacuated (since Rafah Crossing was closed);

◦ 7,700 1-day-old babies are prevented medical life-saving treatment due to vast damage of health system infrastructure, especially neonatal wards;

◦ 658,000 children with no access to formal schooling since October 7, 2023.
