The US-Israeli attack on Iran, day nine

Iran

1. Events:

◦ US-Israeli airstrikes hit Iranian oil infrastructure for the first time, targeting fuel depots and refineries around Tehran and Karaj. The strikes caused massive fires at oil storage facilities, creating what witnesses described as a “river of fire” in parts of Tehran and heavy smoke over the city.


Tehran Province, accounting for 34% of the attacks, continues to be targeted more than any other location. Isfahan about 8%, and Kermanshah about 6%. Khuzestan, Alborz and several western provinces also attacked.


2. Political developments:

◦ Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, designated Iran’s new supreme leader.

3. Casualties:

◦ At least 33 people killed today and 50 others injured.

◦ Since February 28, 2026:

– Civilians: 1,205 people (including at least 194 children).

– Military personnel: 17 people.

– Unclassified (civilian/military): 316 people.


Israel

1. Events:

◦ Iran launched ballistic missiles toward Israeli cities, including the Tel Aviv region and southern Israel. Israeli air defense systems intercepted many projectiles, though some impacts reported. Israeli censorship strictly forbade publication of information about impact sites.


2. Casualties:

◦ Two Israeli soldiers killed in southern Lebanon.

◦ One severely injured and three moderately injured from missile strikes in Tel Aviv.


United States

1. Events:

◦ The United States continues joint air operations with Israel inside Iran, targeting missile infrastructure, command centers and fuel depots.

2. Casualties:

◦ US Central Command announced the death of a seventh US service member who died from injuries sustained in an earlier Iranian attack.

◦ About 140–150 US troops injured during the war by early March.


Kuwait

1. Events:

◦ Iranian drone strike hit a government building in Kuwait City, causing a major fire.


2. Casualties:

◦ Two Kuwaiti Interior Ministry officers killed.


Saudi Arabia

1. Events:

◦ Iranian attacks targeted infrastructure in Al-Kharj, near Riyadh.

2. Casualties:

◦ Two people killed, 12 injured.


Jordan

1. Events:

◦ Iranian missile struck an airbase used by US forces. No casualties or damage reported.


United Kingdom

1. Events:

◦ The UK military intercepted an Iranian drone heading toward Iraq.

◦ London announced deployment of Merlin helicopters for regional surveillance and air defense.


Lebanon

‣ The Israeli army acknowledged difficulty intercepting drones launched from Lebanon and warned that settlements may be evacuated.

‣ The Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson again called on residents of designated areas in southern Lebanon to evacuate their homes.

1. Continued airstrikes on Beirut, southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley. At the same time, ground forces operating in southern Lebanon near the border.

2. Targeted killing of Iranian and Lebanese IRGC members at the Ramada Hotel in the Raouche district of central Beirut. 4 killed and 10 injured. The strike targeted a coordination meeting between senior Quds Force commanders and Hezbollah officials.

3. Aaramoun, north of Beirut, and Saadiyat, south of Beirut – airstrikes on buildings allegedly used by Hezbollah. 11 killed and 4 injured.

4. Lebanese fatalities:

‣ 35 people, including children, killed in Israeli airstrikes in Aaramoun and Saadiyat (11), Sir El Gharbiyeh (20), and Kana (4).


5. Israeli fatalities:

‣ Southern Lebanon – Hezbollah fires anti-tank missiles at an Israeli APC and D9 bulldozer. Two Israeli soldiers killed. Israeli officials noted surprise at Hezbollah’s ability to launch anti-tank missiles from drones and the level of accuracy.
